Black 14.2 oz HBT Chore Coat

The Working Class collection wouldn’t be complete without one of the most classic workwear silhouettes – the chore coat, a denim jacket in a longer cut, with blazer-like proportions and four patch pockets on the front. After its more traditional iteration, we’re bringing it back in a refreshed version – slightly heavier, darker, and more rugged; one that pairs just as well with coarse tweeds and winter flannels.

Our interpretation of the chore coat is made from Japanese HBT (herringbone twill) cotton – the same fabric we used for the trousers* – with a substantial weight of 14.2 oz, making it suitable as a transitional jacket or even a substitute for a winter sportcoat. The collar is finished in black corduroy, which contrasts beautifully with the rougher texture of the rest of the jacket - and will even more so as the base fabric will develop a rich patina over time, softening and molding to the wearer with each wear and wash.

It’s a subtly modernized classic that perfectly fits the collection’s motto – workwear of the past, for the labour of today – and whose versatility today extends far beyond traditional workwear and workwear-inspired outfits. We like to wear it not only with jeans and wider-leg trousers but also with tailored flannel trousers, button-down shirts, and printed square scarves.

*Unlike trousers, jackets made of this fabric are rinsed at the end of production - despite the lack of additional washing effect and/or softening, there may be a slight color difference between the two products.
