‘Donegal Mist’ Tweed Sportcoat

Sometimes a product story begins with an idea that needs refining, and sometimes it starts in a point when everything is pretty much determined straightaway - this is a case of the latter! Our good friends at the Irish mill Magee, specialists in Donegal Tweed, let us know they have produced a short series of fabrics called “Donegal Mist” - all being a refined blend of wool, mohair, and cashmere, made in very limited quantities; each pattern woven only once and never repeated. We knew we had to pick up one.

We decided to take the entire run of the Prince of Wales check fabric that combines classic grey with touches of blue, brown, and pink, along with many smaller color accents that are so characteristic of tweed. Wool provides warmth, mohair adds resilience and a slightly “hairy” texture (without roughness), and cashmere further softens the hand. We turned this fabric into a very comfortable, sportcoat with light construction (typical of Poszetka tailoring) and patch pockets.

This is the kind of jacket that changes character completely depending on the accessories you pair it with. By playing with colors, you can bring out entirely different tones from the mix, leaning into a cooler, more urban palette, or staying closer to the traditional British Country look.
