Olive Jacket - Poszetka x IWP
The original name — that could be translated as “Thermal-Insulating Garment for Research in the Bioclimatic Chamber in Liberec” — suggests something far more futuristic than… quite a modern-looking trucker-like jacket. This project from the IWP archives is a great example of how workwear, even the unexpected local one, can be reimagined today as an everyday piece.
At first glance, the jacket’s cut reminded us of a denim trucker jacket — only with smarter details, like hidden hand pockets built into the same panel as the buttoned chest pockets — imagined as thicker, insulating garment perfect for the in-between seasons. Since the original project card didn’t include a photo of the back, we added some creativity: we borrowed a detail from another design, protective clothing for steelworkers, and added a double yoke. Just like on a trench coat, it helps against rain and makes the jacket tougher, especially if you often wear it with a backpack or shoulder bag.
Unlike the original, we opted for a darker, olive cotton — chosen with utility in mind and to make it easy to pair with both light and dark trousers, from denim to flannel, whether in casual cuts or more tailored styles.
