Indigo Jacquard Corduroy Jacket
You already know this cut – it’s one of our favorite casual jacket styles, inspired by the wool outerwear of the US Army from the Korean War era, which you might have already seen, for example, in this year’s Donegal Tweed jacket – but the fabric this time is something entirely new!
Before we tell you more about it, you should know that many of the projects in our Working Class line begin with fabrics – we choose those that carry not only quality but also stories we want to tell. The story behind this one is about the possibilities and craftsmanship of Japanese weaving mills, where today not only the world’s best denims are made, but also some of the most innovative – or simply the best – cottons, which through their texture, finish, or color perfectly bridge the gap between classic workwear style and what you find in Poszetka’s main line.
This jacquard denim is one of the most intriguing fabrics we’ve ever worked with. It combines the qualities of corduroy, denim, and wool – a heavyweight cotton fabric woven from indigo-dyed and undyed yarns on jacquard looms, giving it a ribbed texture reminiscent of corduroy and the elasticity and resilience more typical of wool.
We see the jacket made from it as an alternative to the typical denim jacket – warmer and more interesting – or as a shorter outer layer that pairs beautifully with winter trousers… or simply with jeans, including white or black ones.
