Brown Balloon-Leg Summer Trousers
These trousers were created with a simple goal in mind – to be comfortable, breathable, and well-suited for summer… but be a bit more directional at the same time.
Their loose, rounded cut may look totally modern, but it has very practical roots – so called “balloon” or “barrel-leg” shape derives from Tobi pants, which originate in Japanese workwear. It’s a good reminder that many everyday contemporary styles are rooted in functional garments - but, as with the rest of the Working Class series, we don’t reference these traditions just for show; we draw inspiration from them, because they still work.
We cut these trousers from lightweight, breathable cotton/linen mix with summer use in mind. The fit is loose, with volume throughout the thighs and knee area and a taper toward the ankles – clean and very comfortable, assisted by a deep single pleat and a stitched crease. Just a modern cut with a practical background.
The cold shade of brown works well with cream, white, navy, and olive. They pair best with a simple shirt, a T-shirt, or a lightweight overshirt - preferably with a cropped silhouette. Wear them with sneakers, loafers, or sandals – depending on whether you're leaning more towards simple casual, streetwear aesthetics or relaxed vacation vibes.
