TIE ANCIENT MADDER SILK
Ancient madder silk is an exquisitely smooth silk in subdued tones. In production, before the print is layered onto, the fabric is dyed and meticulously finished. The resultant colouring is impressively smoky – with distinct advantage of mustard gold, as well as arid undertones of brown, azure, and burgundy. The nobly muted shade will perfectly match your English tweed jacket ensemble.
Ancient madder, the traditional silk dyeing method, was based on the use of dyestuff acquired from the root of Rubia tinctorium. Nowadays, the natural dye was replaced with synthetic equivalents. In production, silk undergoes a special process in which its organic shell is shed to obtain a brand-new, soft, and smooth layer. Ancient madder ties are widely popular at English universities as a more prestigious alternative to striped club ties.
