This year Poszetka is turning 10 years old. We are proud of many things that have happened during this time - and one of the most important for us is that our products are now appreciated not only here in Poland, but also abroad, sometimes very far away.
Although 2020 has just begun, we probably might already say that for our 10th birthday we will be preparing some surprises, creating some special products and blog content. Today, to start off, we would like to share with you some thoughts on a topic that may not be directly related to this celebration, but sheds some light on the growth that happened during these years.
Right when we started, our products - mainly handmade pocket squares (made at home!) - found their buyers among a small group of Polish enthusiasts of good clothes, classic men’s style, readers of the few blogs that existed at the time. The “sartorial” clothes and accessories market was still pretty nonexistent here in Poland. It was hard to even dream of building a brand here, let alone creating a foundation to expand further globally!
Today, when our offer is much broader, consisting of ties, scarves, shoes, shirts, sweaters, socks, entire suits, sportcoats... - briefly, a whole range of men's clothes and accessories - those memories seem to be terribly distant.
Over the years, not only the product range and the Polish market have significantly expanded. Consumer awareness greatly increased, we also know more, make products better and experiment all the time. We don't have to be ashamed anymore - it's amazing for us that our products now are able to reach the farthest corners of the world and the number of orders from countries other than Poland reached 4-digit number!
We see it primarily as a big step and a triumph of Polish craftsmanship. From the very beginning, we have been trying to produce locally as much as possible, as close as we can. Ties from precious grenadines and shantungs from Como are made for us not by huge Italian sewing facilities, but local tailors such as Ms. Jadzia, here in Silesia. The fact that these products are now appreciated by customers from countries such as Japan, the USA and Italy fills us with pride and joy.
Which products are the most frequently chosen abroad?First of all, handkerchiefs with paintings (a whole artwork collection), unlined ties, all sorts of ancient madders, wool challis, grenadines and the like. Customers outside Poland praise the quality-price ratio at a very high level, manual finishing and selection of fabrics that does not differ from the world-class level.
It is no secret that our accessories are also cheaper than similar ones offered by some other brands. It is not only a result of the production costs in a given country, but also of our philosophy. We want our products to be available to everyone, we are not going to inflate the margin and raise the price because of the label with a known brand name. For the same reason, you won't see our ties around on sale for 50% of their original price. Our customers around the world respect this approach and appreciate that they always pay a fair price.
And where do we ship our products?We have the largest number of recipients outside Poland in Germany, France, Sweden and the United States - several hundred each. The most exotic places include Singapore, Korea, Lebanon, Australia and Saudi Arabia - even there our products proudly handmade in Poland are appreciated. In total, we have already shipped to 41 countries outside Poland, so far on 4 continents. Maybe someday we will visit all of them!
What else will the future bring? We'll see. It is certain that we will not forget about Silesia and Poland - this is where we want to create as much as possible, this is where we have our flagship store. We want to remain local, even thinking globally.
