Kwestionariusz: Artur Magnin - Art of Style
We have asked Arthur (@_art_of_style) a few questions about his life, clothes and interests.
Intro
What do you do for a living?
A: I am currently a content creator, but I also write for a magazine and blogs, along with social media consulting & fashion photography for brands. But I'm looking to get back to my main job, which is product management - designing and developing collections, in menswear of course.
What sparked your interest in menswear?
A: I've always been interested in menswear, especially secondhand and vintage. When I was in my teenage years, I used to spend my free time hunting for these lost treasures in thrift shops - mainly americana, workwear and military. I finally ended up in tailoring, even though I still keep these inspirations in my outfits.
All About Menswear
Describe your everyday attire. Do you have any kind of "menswear uniform" that you repeatedly wear?
A: I tend to gravitate towards different styles - but if there is something that never changes in my outfits, it's high-waisted trousers in a classic cut with some interesting kind of waistband, I'd say.
What's your single favorite piece of clothing in your wardrobe?
A: I would say my Schott leather jacket as it was a gift I got from my late father when I graduated high school. When I was young, we went to Florence in Italy and there was a leather jacket shop - we were tempted to buy one, but it was quite expensive and I was still growing up, so it would have been quite a waste then. My father promised he'd get me one when I was older, and he kept his word!
For me, all clothes have a story - it’s either how, where or when you got them - acting as a reminder of what was going on in your life at the time. It's also about the stories we can tell after we experience life wearing them.
Maybe that jacket is not the nicest garment I own, but the story makes it; for me at least.
Is there an item of clothing you would love to own but haven't acquired yet?
A: A pair of cordovan penny loafers. A true classic, still on my wishlist.
Who is your biggest style inspiration or favorite style icon?
A: Picking one of the famous actors of the Golden Era of menswear usually can't be a miss, but it is Fred Astaire who would be the top one for me. Nowadays, I think there are a very few icons that are impactful to me but Ralph Lauren is one of them. I think I resonate with his own inspirations.
Bigger Perspective
What music album or playlist have you been listening to the most recently?
A: I have been listening to The Orion Experience lately and enjoying it a lot!
What's a destination you've yet to visit but would love to see?
A: There are many places I want to visit but I don't travel often! Japan, Switzerland, London... I also think that you could spend your whole holidays in Italy and still find more new things there to discover.
Besides menswear, what are your other hobbies?
A: Through my work on social media, I grew to enjoy photography and videography a lot, but I still have a long way to go to improve in my opinion. Also, the fun answer would be TTRPG - I'm a nerd in disguise.
What's your favorite sport or activity?
A: To be fair, I usually only go to the gym, but I really enjoy all kinds of racket sports.
A Little About Poszetka:
What do you appreciate the most about our brand?
A: I've been wearing Poszetka since 2018, and it's the brand I have the most pieces from in my wardrobe. I like the cuts and shapes - and even if the collections are smaller now, they are carefully and tastefully put together, which makes them much better in my opinion.
What would you recommend to our readers this season?
A: This season, I'd strongly recommend the seersucker jacket of the Summer Uniform. Seersucker is a magical fabric; it's breathable, has a pronounced texture and doesn't wrinkle easily, which makes it perfect for packing and travel.
I usually prefer plain seersucker for suiting, because the classic strips can be a bit too bold in my opinion. However, in the shape of a chore/work jacket with patch pocket and raglan sleeves, it works great; it's extremely light and comfortable for summer. I brought it to the latest Pitti Uomo 106 together with the trousers from the navy seersucker suit from an older Poszetka collection - the pairing worked really well for me!
