'Sounds' by Wassily Kandinsky Pocket Square
Artwork: 'Sounds’
Author: Wassily Kandinsky
We made this pocket square from a delicate, matte fabric - a blend of cotton, modal and cashmere - that works equally well as a pocket square or as a small bandana tied around the neck. As with all our pocket squares, the edges are hand-rolled by our seamstresses locally in Katowice.
The pattern is inspired by “Sounds” (1913) by Wassily Kandinsky, one of the pioneers of abstraction. Kandinsky treated color and form as equivalents of music, building compositions based on rhythm, tension, and contrast. This was a period when his work became increasingly detached from literal representation, focusing instead on emotion and the inner resonance of the image.
