Blue Flap Pocket OCBD Shirt - Working Class
For the first-ever Working Class collection release, we’ve prepared three shirts that we see as perfect work shirts – each in its own unique way. The OCBD shirt is probably the most conservative of the three… at least from the perspective of someone who often wears ties.
The fabric we chose is a thick, substantial Japanese oxford (note that its weight is listed per square meter – if you multiply it to get the linear meter equivalent, it comes out to nearly 250g, heavier than our casual oxfords from the base collection!). It has a pleasant hand and is guaranteed to soften over time, gradually molding to the wearer.
This shirt pays homage to classic Ivy Style OCBDs of the past, featuring a flap pocket cut that has been traditionally offered by some of the most iconic preppy clothiers. The unlined button-down collar has long points, completing the vintage-inspired look. Historically worn by both university professors and working-class individuals, such shirts have long stood as a truly egalitarian garment – though we opted to make ours in blue first, technically making it a blue collar shirt (but very distinct from our chambray!)… that fits right in at white collar workplaces too. Workwear of the past, for the labor of today, isn’t it?
