Navy Lambswool CPO Jacket
This cut was inspired by the woolen shirt jackets worn by the US Army during the Korean War — military garments, however, tend to put form before function. For us, the balance between the two is what matters, so for our casual Working Class line, we took this style back to the drawing board and recreated it with a completely different level of quality, using completely different fabrics.
The foundation of this version is a thick yet exceptionally soft British tweed from Abraham Moon, in a coat-weight of 500g. This makes it versatile enough to work either as a proper fall jacket or as an alternative to a winter sportcoat, worn as an outer layer or somewhere in between. The color is a beautiful, deep navy that fits perfectly into an urban palette while being dark enough to create a great contrast with the earthy colors of fall.
With the details kept simple, the fabric takes center stage, while everything else simply serves the wearer — the button-front closure allows you to fasten it all the way up to the neck, two spacious pockets can hold, for example, a pair of gloves, the collar can be turned up for extra protection from the cold, and the relaxed fit leaves enough room for a heavier sweater underneath. Paired with flannel trousers and a Shetland sweater, it makes for a comfortable, warm everyday outfit — while worn with the “Balloon” trousers made from the same fabric, it lets you play with the idea of an informal “suit”… even with a tie!
