The questionnaire XVIII: Maciej Gajdur
The guest of our XVIII questionnaire is Maciej Gajdur - the manager of our showroom in Wrocław. You can read about how his adventure from #menwear began, what he does in his free time, and where he likes to go out after dark ;)
1. Tell us briefly about yourself. What do you do and what is your
everyday life like?
Day to day I run the Poszetka store in Wrocław. While I don't like to call myself a manager, that's the job I do. I've been present in the menswear world for around 10 years.
2. How did you discover menswear and how did this journey begin?
Quite a long time ago I've came up with an idea, to spot out well dressed people on the streets of my home city and photograph them. That's how my adventure started, both with men's and women's fashion. For almost eight years I've regularly worked with them both. Unfortunately the men's part was always turned out to be the worse one. After some time I decided it's time to change that. It definitely wasn't an easy change, since switching your thinking to different paradigms (especially with modern, governing trends) was quite difficult, for e.g. that a sports jacket can be comfortable or that trousers fit better when they're roomier.
I've also met a lot of great people who've shown me that you can dress different and how to do it. Dawid Tymiński, Łukasz Włodarczyk, Łukasz Masłowski (Outdersen) and many others, some who even run their own tailoring businesses now ;) Thanks to them I've taken a liking to the inexplicably male part of the fashion world.
3. How would you describe your everyday style? Do you have any particular style that you love and stick to?
It's hard to describe my own style, since it's constantly changing and evolving. One day I fancy looking like someone who wrangles cows in Oregon, the other day I want to look like a stylish sartorial italian. Putting labels on everything is the worst, where would all the fun be?
Trousers, jeans more precisely. I have many pairs. Far too many.
4. Your favourite piece of clothing?
5. Your favourite, most worn pair of shoes?
White/cream trainers have accompanied me for a very long time. I can't imagine my own wardrobe without them. Second place is taked by brown suede loafers.
6. The single favourite item in your wardrobe?
7. The garment that you have been dreaming of, but still have not acquired?
Woodland USAF standard issue uniform jacket, good ol' military surplus that fits every outfit. I'm serious, every outfit.
First thing that springs to my mind is a Solaro suit. Prefferably green, maroon or purple. It's a hard choice.
8. Your biggest style icon and the biggest inspiration?
9. Tell us three of your favourite, most inspiring (menswear related) Instagram accounts.
I don't have anyone like that. Every icon has it's limits and doesn't step out of it's comfortable borders. I'm not saying that having one is bad, but why limit yourself?
10. What makes you like Poszetka.com the most?
For the chill attitude and crazy ideas. For the fact that they do not follow the group and they do listen to the customers.
11. Your favourite product from Poszetka.com range? What would you
recommend in particular?
At this moment that would be the linen Ferla jacket and hawaiian shirts. I would mention something else that's coming... but I can't talk about it!
12. What are your hobbies apart from your job and the menswear world?
Hahaha, how much time do I have? First thing would be portrait, documentary and street photography. Then some activities that reset the mind: bicycling, forest trekking - not just during daytime. The last night hike I had the pleasure of doing was at Ślęża. An interesting thing to note, night escapades like that have their climate and are practised by many.
To top it off I like video games - survival and open world are my jam. I'm most often found on Day Z servers.
